Thank you Sue for bringing back Margherita's lovely poem.
Wonderful Winter thread! Let me see if I succeed in writing here in this moment a winter haiku:
Snow melts on my face
my warm skin slowly reacts
cheeks like red apples
Love to all.
Margherita
“I wonder if the snow loves the trees and fields, that it kisses them so gently? And then it covers them up snug, you know, with a white quilt; and perhaps it says, "Go to sleep, darlings, till the summer comes again.”
"Snow was falling,
so much like stars
filling the dark trees
that one could easily imagine
its reason for being was nothing more
than prettiness.”
― Mary Oliver
“some winters
will never melt
some summers
will never freeze
and some things will only
... live in poems.”
― Sanober Khan, Turquoise Silence
"One kind word can warm three winter months. "

A Story in the Snow
by Pearl Riggs Crouch
This morning, as I walked to school
Across the fluffy snow,
I came upon a bunny's tracks --
A jumping, zigzag row.
He must have hurried very fast,
For here and there I saw
Along his jerky, winding trail
The print of Rover's paw.
I set my lunch pail on the snow
And stood there very still,
For only Rover's clumsy tracks
Led down the little hill.
Then suddenly I thought I heard
A rustling sound close by;
And there within a grassy clump
Shone bunny's twinkling eye.
So much snow-but
A place fror snow viewing?
There's nowhere to go.

Be as a bird perched on a frail branch that she
feels bending beneath her, still she sings away all the same,
knowing she has wings.

in a world of one colour
the sound of the wind."

Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening
by Robert Frost (1923)
Whose woods these are I think I know.
His house is in the village though;
He will not see me stopping here
To watch his woods fill up with snow.
My little horse must think it queer
To stop without a farmhouse near
Between the woods and frozen lake
The darkest evening of the year.
He gives his harness bells a shake
To ask if there is some mistake.
The only other sound's the sweep
Of easy wind and downy flake.
The woods are lovely, dark and deep.
But I have promises to keep,
And miles to go before I sleep,
And miles to go before I sleep.
I believe in process. I believe in four seasons. I believe that winter's tough, but spring's coming. I believe that there's a growing season. And I think that you realize that in life, you grow. You get better.

Don't think the garden loses its ecstasy in winter, it's quiet, but the roots are down there rietous.
Rumi
In winter the bare boughs that seem to sleep work covertly, preparing for their spring.
Rumi
What good is the warmth of summer without the cold of winter to give it sweetness.

In Winter the bare boughs that seem to sleep Work covertly, preparing for their Spring.
And don't think the garden loses its ecstasy in winter. It's quiet, but the roots are down there riotous.
