May you find yourself in the world…and may you enjoy the company!
From an article by Ranchor Prime:

It is often supposed that humans can get what they want from this world provided they are prepared to work hard enough for it - that with our superior intelligence we can win wealth by exploiting the earth's resources, while animals can only follow their instincts in the struggle for survival. The ability of humans to exploit their environment is presumed somehow to give us rights over animals and nature. YThis misconception lives at the root of the expansion of human domination of the planet over the past 500 years.

A different concept is taught by the Vedas. This planet and all she produces does not belong to humanity, any more than she belongs to the other species living here. The earth is satisfied when she sees her produce symbolically returned to God, its original source. This principle is taught in the classic Vedic text Isha Upanishad;

Everything in the universe belongs to the Lord. Therefore take only what you need that is set aside for you. Do not take anything else, for you know to whom it belongs.

Thank you yoko for the very appropriate quote.

The Vedic scriptures advise that knowledge of matter, namely science, must be cultivated alongside knowledge of spirit if it is to benefit humanity.

From the article by Ranchor Prime:

The cobbler lived beneath a tree. Now that we have left the trees far behind, perhaps we are ready to learn again what he - and we - once knew.

If we treat the planet with care, take only our fair share of her produce, and recognize that everything ultimately belongs to God, the planet will provide for our needs.

If we are to resolve the environmental problems that now beset us, we must examine the connection between our environment and our way of life.

Large numbers of grizzly bears once roamed the praries. They were driven to near extinction by humans during the 1900s, and nothing can be done to bring them back.
In areas where people and grizzly bears share the same habitat, humans start killing the bears. Human related mortality is the greatest threat to the persistence of grizzly bears today. The recovery of the bear to the Prairies is not feasible due to a lack of habitat and an inability to mitigate threats.

As a society controlled by godless men gathers all the resources from the land as fast as possible for power and quick profits, it may appear to be a mighty economic gain at first, but in time it is never enough. As demand grows, scarcity raises its angry head. When the environment is not respected and cared for properly, there are also changes in the various species that have existed for thousands of years, even extinctions. These are all signs of further unknown changes in the future that will be revealing themselves to us when it will be too late.
