Oh my! This is gorgeous! I'd like to be there with you.
In my childhood I had a beautiful connection with deers (in a big park)and I so enjoyed giving them the old bread from my hand.
This is really a wonderful contribution here, thank you so much.
It must be a delight to have those humming birds on your hand.

What wonderful pictures everyone has posted! This has turned into a very heart warming thread. Thank you all for the wonderful pictures.

I live out in the country in NE Ohio. Here's a Google earth picture of my place.

My house

I have some corn fields around me and Quail Hollow state park 1/2 mile down the road from me. I have lived here 29 years now and have planted many trees on my little 6 acres. The deer go to the corn fields and eat then some times at dusk cut across my yard to go back to the park. Sometimes they just spend the night here. They like to bed down in my pine trees out back. I stay up late on the computer at night a lot of times. I have a motion detector light that comes on in front of my garage. I have a lot of animals that live in my yard or come to visit so it comes on at night quite often, I have the computer in my living room where I can watch out the window during the day. I always peek out the curtain when the light comes on at night just to see what is going on, it is usually a cat or a bunny or woodchuck, skunk, I live beside a crick and even have beavers come into the yard and cut down a tree or bush now and then.

For one whole week I was having the light come on at 2:30 am every night and when I looked out there would be 3 or 4 deer standing around in front of my house. They didn't seem concerned over the light coming on or me looking out the window at them and they were close enough I could of petted them if I could of reached through the glass, they just kind of looked at me and just milled around for about half an hour and then one by one they would go out back toward the pine trees.

It wasn't unusual to see deer in my yard at dusk time when they would be heading for bed, but every night at 2:30 am and to just hang out in front of my window was unusual. I wrote to a few friends about it to see what they thought. My one friend sent me the pictures of the couple in the pictures I posted at the beginning of this thread. They had built their house out where those deer lived so they decided since the deer lived there first they would make friends with them. I have a couple more of their pictures I will post next.

With my deer friends at the end of the week, when I was just getting used to them and even started watching for them since they were showing up every night right on time at 2:30 am and I was up anyway, we had a small 4.0 earthquake. They haven't come back since the earthquake and now I'm thinking that they could sense that earthquake coming and for some reason that is why they were hanging out so close to my house. Maybe their way of letting me know something unusual was about to happen. We don't have many earthquakes here in Ohio. I tried taking their pictures but it was just too dark with just the garage and moon light so the pictues didn't turn out. I need to get a better camera.

I love humming birds I have a lot of them around here, I used to keep a feeder up in front of my window for them they still come back and check to see if I put it back up yet. I had to take it down it was drawing too many bees and wasps. I'll have to put it back up again now for them, I loved watching them. I still see them out in the yard, they love all the flowers around here. I have some video of them, if I ever learn how to put my videos on the computer I'll have to make a clip of that.

A friend sent me this video of a lion who was saved by a lady then she gave him to a zoo when he was better and she comes to visit him. In the video, he sees her and reaches through the bars and gives her a big hug and kiss. Hi Margherita, I've only had one big snow this year so far and I didn't get any pictures of it. But my friend up in Canada did send me this one from this year. Same storm I had but they got more the 2x what I did.



This is from last year out by where the deers were in my back yard.

And I was sitting here and seen all these birds landing in my yard in the fall, they must of been heading South and decided to stop here for a visit. But when I pulled the curtain back to take the picture I scared them and they flew up in my trees.

I just had to add these pictures of my neighbors too, this is my newest neighbor at 2 weeks old.

Do you put out food for the deers in winter or are they provided for by the forest guards within the woods area?
How incredible that enormous cloud of birds!! Did they have the time to leave some blessings??! They knew they found friendly hearts in you, most assuredly, but of course brisk movements are always suspicious, they know!
What a sweet baby! In a while I will post a poem for our children and grandchildren with the picture of my two grandsons in the poetry thread. What a treasure these babies!! There is nothing like looking at a newborn baby to be overwhelmed by the beauty and miracle of life!
And thank you for adding your neighbours birthday picture ... you associated the Spring of Life with the Winter of Life and it is equally awesome to see the love that is shared around God's children in these moments of celebration. 97 and still so good-looking. Tell the Lady that I send her my best wishes and greetings from Rome.

Margherita, sorry to hear about you having the flu. I quit getting flu shots when I was 19 and haven't had the "flu" since. It took me 19 years to figure out I was allergic to the flu shots. I hope you get over it soon sweetie! I'll tell Katherine of your birthday wishes. I was in Roma in 1973 it was 112 and I just had been in Switzerland and had about 5 candy bars that melted in my suit case. I was on a band concert tour called School band of America, we traveled all around Europe for a month doing concerts. I played sax. I wrote a poem 10 years ago for my husband I'll have to find the poetry section and post it. The birds stayed for a few hours they didn't go very far they just few up into my trees. I have a 6 acre yard it was an open field when we built here 30 years ago and we planted all of the trees. So I don't have like a woods area my trees are getting so big that the whole yard is getting to be like a woods. I'll post a Google picture of it my house and barn and yard. I don't put out food for the deer they find plenty to eat from just what grows on it's own and from what is left over from the farmers around me. Some times they bring me food, I'll walk up to get the mail and find ears of corn that they dropped on their way to my back yard they like to sleep in the pines back there.
