Our sexuual essence has little to do with actual gender. We each contain ample amounts of masculine and feminine. The truly whole sexual person is able to call upon the wide spectrum of sexual energy that is at our disposal. To deny sexual essence is to deny and over look that which attracts one another. Sexual polarity is the key to all life...from the bees seeking pollen to the actual big bang of creation.
Trouble begins when we deny ANY aspect of ourselves let alone our sexual aspects. In relationships people are often drawn towards what they feel they lack. When one is aware of their own sexual essence...they are now given a choice over the unexamined pull towards another. Being aware of their innate wholeness, they are free to desire freely, without the need to be healed or be made whole.
Would you really wish to live in a world where people were sexual drones and mated for the lone reason of reproduction? Without sexual polarity the heat of desire would diminish to nothing. Polarity is the celebration of the different aspects of ourselves...found in another. To come together sexualy is to feed the greater part of ourselves that resides as the witness to this play of worlds.
Yes...the roles we assign ourselves, through society or by any other means can limit. Yet nothing limits more than to deny ourselves.
The Taoist sages and Tantric masters have long used sexual polarity to reach the highest levels of awareness and demonstration of love in action. The archetype of the gods and goddess called upon was to invoke the masculine or feminine quality already possessed by one...yet not fully realized. When the masculine and feminine join together....whether it be in a single body, the coupling of two men or two women, or simply man and women...the results are always the same. It always remains...God touching God.
