Christmas Prayer

Loving Father,
Help us remember the birth of Jesus, that we may share in the song of the angels, the gladness of the shepherds, and worship of the wise men.

Close the door of hate and open the door of love all over the world. Let kindness come with every gift and good desires with every greeting. Deliver us from evil by the blessing which Christ brings, and teach us to be merry with clear hearts.

May the Christmas morning make us happy to be Thy children, and Christmas evening bring us to our beds with grateful thoughts, forgiving and forgiven, for Jesus' sake. Amen.

Merry Christmas to you, my precious Sandy! And Merry Christmas to all our friends who celebrate.

Amen to this very beautiful prayer! Thank you Sandy for sharing it.

I intended to post my own Christmas prayer and here is just the right place:

CHRISTMAS DREAM

This is the time to realize a global miracle,
the time to realize a dream of love.

Connect with your heart
and listen to its song of love.
Synchronize yourself with the Source
of universal peace and harmony.

Embrace all the pain
afflicting humanity.
Let your love flow
towards the entire world.

With your actions
you can restore the smile
of all the children who lost it,
giving them new hope.

Confer meaning to your days,
in the awareness that Divine Love,
the most precious gift we may desire,
resides within your core.

Share your dream of love with everyone.
Fill your hands with the Joy of Christ
and spread it on the paths of peace
which cross our turbulent world.

Let your heart guide you!
This is the time to realize a global miracle,
the time to realize a dream of love.

With all my love,
Margherita

Dear Sandy,

It is wonderful to see your post.

Wishing you and Hank and all you loved ones a very Merry Christmas.

Love, Inda

Falling Snow
by
Emily Burton

See how they fall
An infinity of heavenly aspirations
Come to convert the world
With its deep and even purity.
Sent to nullify and cleanse
To enhance and beautify
To muffle and calm
With the tranquility
Of a gossamer eiderdown.
To cloak in a mystery
Of endless variations
Of the same tonal theme;
Converting everything
To a glistening coalescence.
Tidying up the farmyard
Smoothing out the fields
Transmogrifying neglected gardens
Into dazzling showpieces,
Cluttered garden sheds
Into sparkling summer-houses,
Making abandoned bean sticks
As elegant as sculptured crystal,
And fondant death-traps
Of old familiar ponds
Enhancing the weary timothy
In the sad neglected churchyard.
Cheering up the stories
On the long forgotten grave stones.
Turning distant spires
Into alabaster space rockets
And drooping telephone lines
Into crystal mooring ropes
For ocean going bungalows.
The purification is complete
Unblemished save for the prints
Of wandering spirits
Dissolving in the gentle cascade.

Christmas 2011 is almost here.

Thank you sandy for the original prayer,
and thank you Margherita for the lovely poem.

I want to add Tim Cannon's poem to this list:

Listen closely
To this story
Of a child written long ago,
Who came from the mountains
To the distant valleys
Bringing a message of peace and hope.
This child sang to all the people
Words were whispered far and near,
Of the power that’s in the heart
Of the wisdom all can share.

“In your heart
And in your mind
Working together
You will find,
All the treasures
And all the gold
Lies in two simple words
Never needed to be told.
Feel the warmth
Which grows inside
And in this feeling
You will cry,
Sounds of freedom
Sounds of laughter
Sounds of children
Forever by your side.”

Some of the people
Wanted the secrets
To all the treasures
All of the gold,
They took this child
And locked him up
Keeping this child
Deep inside.

These people grew in sickness
Age and resentment
Hate and fear,
Never understanding
Never receiving
Forever lonely in despair.

And when the child had faded and died
They had lost their secret
This wealth was gone,
They could not share in
This life treasure
These words in which they seek.

When elders looked
To the other people
And saw them happy
Full of life,
Full of laughter
Full of love
Reflecting ever clearly
So brilliantly bright.

“How could this be
We had the child
We held him within,
He was ours to keep
Ours to have
Never to share
Never to lend.
Only the words
We were never told
To all the riches
And to all the gold,
Died with this child
Never again to be seen
Forever left, untold.”

As their feelings
Turned from anger
Turned from jealousy
Turned towards rage,
A child did step forth
And kissed them lightly
Only then did they know.

The words for which they were seeking
To all the riches, all the treasures
And all the gold,
Laid in their heart
Always there
Never needed to be told.

This feeling, forgiveness
This feeling of love
Came from deep within,
From within their soul,
Is all that is treasured
Is all that is needed
Wealthier than all the gold.

So now you know the story
The words, the feelings
Living within us all.
Live your life
Live it as a child,
Live it in forgiveness
Live it in love.

Listen closely
To this story,
Of a child,
Written long ago.

Merry Christmas everyone.

Love,
Sue

I will add another of Margherita's lovely poems.

J E S U S

Your name is on the lips of millions
while they gaze into Your baby eyes.
Whether your smile has been shaped
in wood, marble, gold, silver or stone
you touch the heart of every soul.

To celebrate Your sacred birth on Earth
we rebuild the scene of Bethlehem
and we become like children again,
to feel the genuine joy, sweet Jesus,
of that glorious hour of Your arrival.

You had been given a special mission
You were an extraordinary divine gift
for those who shared Your time
and for all the future generations.
An everlasting treasure for the world.

May we remember Your divine Light
and the message you came to share,
may we be able to identify with You,
to become true messengers of love too,
in order to heal every heart on Earth.

Be our guide on the Path of our Life,
be our light when we can’t see our aim,
be our support when we feel too frail,
be our voice when we don’t know what to say!
Kindle the divine spark within our souls!

May we become like children again,
to walk with You in trust and joy,
spreading love all over the world
providing reason to rejoice for all
remembering the truth that we are One.

O holy night! The stars are brightly shining,
It is the night of our dear Saviour's birth.
Long lay the world in sin and error pining,
'Til He appear'd and the soul felt its worth.
A thrill of hope, the weary world rejoices,
For yonder breaks a new and glorious morn.

Fall on your knees! O hear the angel voices!
O night divine, O night when Christ was born;
O night divine, O night, O night Divine…

A Christmas Carol

I.

The Shepherds went their hasty way,
        And found the lowly stable-shed
   Where the Virgin-Mother lay:
And now they checked their eager tread,
For to the Babe, that at her bosom clung,
A Mother’s song the Virgin-Mother sung.

II.

They told her how a glorious light,
         Streaming from a heavenly throng,
   Around them shone, suspending night!
While sweeter than a Mother’s song,
Blest Angels heralded the Saviour’s birth,
Glory to God on high! and Peace on Earth.

III.

She listened to the tale divine,
         And closer still the Babe she pressed;
And while she cried, the Babe is mine!
The milk rushed faster to her breast:
Joy rose within her, like a summer’s morn;
Peace, Peace on Earth! the Prince of Peace is born.

IV.

Thou Mother of the Prince of Peace,
Poor, simple, and of low estate!
That Strife should vanish, Battle cease,
O why should this thy soul elate?
Sweet Music’s loudest note, the Poet’s story,—
Did’st thou ne’er love to hear of Fame and Glory?

V.

And is not War a youthful King,
A stately Hero clad in Mail?
   Beneath his footsteps laurels spring;
         Him Earth’s majestic monarchs hail
Their Friend, their Playmate! and his bold bright eye
Compels the maiden’s love-confessing sigh.

VI.

“Tell this in some more courtly scene,
“To maids and youths in robes of state!
“I am a woman poor and mean,
“And therefore is my Soul elate.
“War is a ruffian, all with guilt defiled,
“That from the aged Father tears his Child!

VII.

“A murderous fiend, by fiends adored,
         “He kills the Sire and starves the Son;
“The Husband kills, and from her board
         “Steals all his Widow’s toil had won;
“Plunders God’s world of beauty; rends away
“All safety from the Night, all comfort from the Day.

VIII.

“Then wisely is my soul elate,
“That Strife should vanish, Battle cease:
“I’m poor and of a low estate,
“The Mother of the Prince of Peace.
“Joy rises in me, like a summer’s morn:
“Peace, Peace on Earth, the Prince of Peace is born.”
