Koko died Tuesday in her sleep at age 46, The Gorilla Foundation said in a statement.

She was beloved and will be deeply missed.’ Koko was born on July 4, 1971 at the San Francisco Zoo and was named Hanabi-ko (Japanese for ‘Fireworks Child’). She quickly became famous after was taught sign language by Dr. Francine ‘Penny’ Patterson.

I am so sad. May Koko enjoy herself in Animal Heaven where she will find many friends.

I feel really sad that Koko passed away, and that she never got to go to Hawaii.

I hope that she is having a very nice time in Animal Heaven.

She is now with her beloved cat.

I miss Koko as well. I wish she could have gone to Hawaii, but as you mentioned Vicky, she is with all her friends now in Animal Heaven.
