Giraffe Killed in Copenhagen Zoo

This is absolutely disgusting.

I read about it. Poor 18 months old Darius was shot in the head and then fed to carnivores in front of a large crowd of adults and children.

The zoo had many offers to save the animal which they rejected.

All this makes me hate zoos and animals in captivity; mind you, animals don't fare much better in the wild when they come in contact with people.

I begin to like human beings less and less.
There is so much cruelty in the world these days, including all the TV shows, video games etc.
Everything is kill, kill, kill...with no compassion or kindness left.

This is unspeakable.

The zoo is claiming a number of reasons for it's actions, none of which excuse any of this brutality.

We are teaching enough violence to children with all our television programs, movies etc. Do they need to see the poor animal thrown to lions to feed.

I read about it, and it is really sad.
As was mentioned, children are exposed to soo much cruelty already, and I do believe that they should be taught to save the animals on this planet, and not to shoot an innocent being and then happily feed him to predators.

Little more than a month after it caused global dismay by euthanizing a healthy giraffe named Marius, a Danish zoo is again is the spotlight for putting down four healthy lions — a male, female and two cubs, to make wayy for a new male lion.

The zoo attracted international ire after shooting Marius in the head, and then, in what animal rights groups called a nightmarish spectacle, dissecting him in front of a crowd that included children, before feeding him to a group of lions. The lions killed were among those that had feasted on Marius’s remains.

I thought Denmark was a nice place?? apparently NOT!!
I really can't believe about the cruelty to these poor animals.
I don't like zoos, the animals should have been taken to an animal sanctuary, or something similar.

This is very upsetting and sad news.
I agree with Sue, I don't like zoos either, especially when I hear this.

This is truly very sad.
I agree with Sue, there must be an alternative to slaughtering these poor innocent animals, and I do not like zoos either; animals should not be like prisoners in a jail, they should be free.

I am truly very upset to read this news.
There is not one thing good that I can add to it.

Poor, poor captive animals.
I read about all kinds of excuses that the zoo makes for slaughtering these innocent animals, which goes to show how cruel they really are.
