Ducky Gets Prosthetic Foot

Lucky ducky gets prosthetic foot. Buttercup the ducky was born with his left foot turned backwards, so he seemed destined to hobble.

Thanks to cutting-edge 3D printing technology, the ducky now has a brand new webbed prosthesis.

First the disfigured foot had to be removed. Then 3D printing specialist NovaCopy scanned the left foot of Buttercup's sister Minnie and printed a 3D mould used to cast a silicone foot.

Buttercup was handed over from a high school biology lab to Arlington,Tenn-based Feathered Angels Waterfowl Sanctuary.

I understand that some of this technology has been used on humans as well.

That's wonderful. I have been impressed with 3D-printing technology. I have just seen a tv program dedicated to this totally awesome technique that allows to "print" whatever can be conceived and designed on a computer. What took enormous skill and time for artisans to get crafted is simply printed now. The machines are impressive and the process too. Seems so easy!! It is an incredible revolutionary technical evolution and yes it serves so many fields.
