May you find yourself in the world…and may you enjoy the company!
Dear Sandy,

It is wonderful to see you back. We are all busy during the summer but it is nice to see each other even for a little bit.

Native American Prayer for Peace

Oh Great Spirit of our Ancestors,
I raise my pipe to you.
To your messengers the four winds,
and to Mother Earth who provides
for your children.
Give us the wisdom to teach our children
to love, to respect, and to be kind
to each other so that they may grow
with peace of mind
Let us learn to share all good things
that you provide for us on this Earth.

In Deepak Chopra's book,
"The Spontaneous Fulfillment of Desire"
I found this beautiful prayer by an unknown
Native American Author:

Don't stand by my grave and weep,
For I am not there.
I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow,
I am the diamond's glint on snow,
I am the sunlight on ripened grain,
I am the gentle autumn's rain.
In the soft brush of the morning's light
I am the swift bird in flight.
Don't stand by my grave and cry,
I am not there,
I did not die.

Prayer for a Newborn
I wrote this prayer for the birth of a child.

May your eyes see the beauty of Mother Earth
May your ears hear the music of life and the sounds of laughter.
May your mouth always speak truth, presented with a kind heart.
May your heart always be full of joy
May your hands one day grasp the hands of your own grandchildren.
May your arms always welcome friends and family.
May your feet always walk a straight path.
And if your feet should ever stray from your path,
may Creator always lead you home.

I had to bring this beautiful thread back.
Thank you Sandy and everyone who has taken part in this wisdom. We may have this prayer already, but it is very beautiful and filled with wisdom, so I wanted to share it once more before I go away for another ten days.

A Native American Prayer
Let us know peace.
For as long as the moon shall rise,
For as long as the rivers shall flow,
For as long as the sun will shine,
For as long as the grass shall grow,
Let us know peace.

When the last Red Man and Woman have vanished with their wilderness, and their memory is only the shadow of a cloud moving across the prairie, will the shores and the forests still be here? Will there be any of the spirit of my people left?
My ancestors said to me, This we know:
The earth does not belong to us. We belong to the earth.

An Indian Prayer
by H. Kent Craig
My grandfather is the fire
My grandmother is the wind
The Earth is my mother
The Great Spirit is my father

The World stopped at my birth
and laid itself at my feet

And I shall swallow the Earth whole
when I die and the Earth and I will be one

Hail The Great Spirit, my father
without him no one could exist
because there would be no will to live

Hail The Earth, my mother
without which no food could be grown
and so cause the will to live to starve

Hail the wind, my grandmother
for she brings loving, lifegiving rain
nourishing us as she nourishes our crops

Hail the fire, my grandfather
for the light, the warmth, the comfort he brings
without which we be animals, not men

Hail my parent and grandparents
without which
not I
nor you
nor anyone else
could have existed

Life gives life
which gives unto itself
a promise of new life

Hail the Great Spirit, The Earth, the wind, the fire
praise my parents loudly
for they are your parents, too

Oh, Great Spirit, giver of my life
please accept this humble offering of prayer
this offering of praise
this honest reverence of my love for you.

Sending my love,

Sandy

This is a truly beautiful thread.

So long as we enjoy the light of the day,
May we greet one another with love.
So long as we enjoy the light of the day,
May we wish one another well.
Clasping hands,
Holding one another tight,
May we pray for each other:
May you be blessed with light;
may your roads be fulfilled;
May you grow old;
May you be lucky;
May your roads stretch
To join the life giving road
of your sun father.
May your roads all be fulfilled.

SIOUX PRAYER
Grandfather Great Spirit All Over The World

The Faces Of Living Things Are Alike.

With Tenderness, They Have Come Up Out Of The Ground.

Look Upon Your Children That They May Face The Winds

And Walk The Good Road To The Day Of Quiet.

Grandfather Great Spirit

Fill Us With The Light.

Give Us The Strength To Understand And The Eyes To See.

Teach Us To Walk The Soft Earth As Relatives

To All That Live.

Woman-Heart Spirit

The woman-heart spirit was released by the Creator
a long time ago in order to nurture children,
animals and plants, trees and rocks, and also
men, who resisted the softening of their wild nature.

The woman-heart spirit roamed the deserts and the mountains
looking for ways to create awareness
the food the earth needed for survival
and the recognition of beauty in the land

The woman-heart spirit was wild, untamed
like the river and the wind
who taught her knowledge of a certain kind,
different from the knowledge of men or children

The woman-heart spirit became the guardian
of language and music and the stories
needed by birds and animals and people, as
the world changed and imagination dried up.

The woman-heart spirit became the keeper of compassion,
strong yet invisible, the connection between
all living things. The woman-heart spirit
is nothing more than love, overlooked when the world began. Poem by: Nancy Wood
