Re: Japanese Garden
The karesansui (or karesenzui, kosansui, kosensui 枯山水: "dry landscape") style originate from zen temples. These have no water and few plants, but typically evoke a feeling of water using pebbles and meticulously raked gravel or sand. Rocks chosen for their intriguing shapes and patterns, mosses, and low shrubs typify the karesansui style. The gardens at Ryōan-ji, a temple in Kyoto, and Daisen-in, created in 1513, are particularly renowned. Other gardens also use similar rocks for decoration.

Re: Japanese Garden
Thank you Gisele and Teo. The Japanese garden embodies native values, their cultural beliefs and religious principles. This is why there is no one prototype for the Japanese garden, just as there is no one native philosophy or aesthetic. In this way, similar to other forms of Japanese art, landscape design is constantly evolving because of the influx of mainland, namely Chinese, influences as well as the changing aesthetic tastes and values of the patrons.

Dear Teo, I am trying to get in contact with you for the following reason. I have been searching the web for a symbol of the flower of life for my brochure and came across one that I believe you have posted a couple of years ago on a physics website. I am a registered psychologist and also do some vision healing work following my training at the clairvision school. I want to use the symbol on the front of my brochure to represent my connection to this life force. Please let me know whether I...

Re: Snowflakes, tiny jewels of ice
A SNOWFLAKE. A snowflake falls out of the sky. A piece of God's handicraft. Lovely and chaste and full of His light. It lingers like others in one vast white sky. Yet, stands separate, apart with its own soul it flies. Yes, it is one poem in one page of time. Yet, it be one piece of His planned design. ~~By Linda A. Copp.~~ http://www.rosebriar.uk.com/seasons/winter.html

Thank you for the beautiful post. I have already had some snowflakes here. They are little intricate sculptures of ice, and each and everyone has its own little design. Re: Classic Garden Poetry
To Linger in a Garden Fair MIRTH, Spring, to linger in a garden fair, What more has earth to give? All ye that wait, Where is the Cup-bearer, the flagon where? When pleasant hours slip from the hand of Fate, Reckon each hour as a certain gain; Who seeks to know the end of mortal care Shall question his experience in vain. Thy fettered life hangs on a single thread– Some comfort for thy present ills devise, But those that time may bring thou shalt not dread. Waters of Life and Irem’s...

WHITE SILENCE by Margrit Rueger The morning air carries the fragrance of snow, sparkling white beauty reflecting in my eyes. I plunge into this softness this myriad of snowflakes each a masterpiece of design beholding a vision of peace. My footprints across the field a friendly message to the sky. I am embraced by the woods, aware of my perfect solitude. My breath the only sound, I let beauty and silence enter and expand within and my heartbeats dance. I need not ask any questions. All...
