Reply to "Musical question: what is the answer to "Daa dada daa daa""

Daa daa! Great, 2 of you got it!

Music often teaches us fun things. One person knocks tac tata tac tac, the other answers tac tac. Why?

Believe it or not, the answer may lie in a common drum (percussion) pattern that I want to share:

Clave (clah-vay)

The sticks are called claves, and the musical phrase is called clave!

There is a "2 side" and a "3 side."

The daa dada daa daa has the 3 side in it, the answer is the 2 side!

Good music often has a statement, or melody, or phrase, then complimentary or secondary statements, in conversation. In this post I wanted to "call" or "make a statement," and if it was "responce'd" or "complimented" well, then I would continue my melody, harmonizing, well, continue my topic. Waiting for someone to answer "daa daa" was fun!

Would you like me to tell you more about clave patterns?
