Then rose Hawai'i from the space of time
Arose from inside, from the inner darkness,
Then appeared the island, the land
The row of the islands of Nu'umea...

The Hawaiian people know that one energy unites them all, the ocean, the birds, the plants, the rocks and the people...

There is a reverence for life.

Aloha exists beyond motives,
desires or opinions. It is sustained
by love, fortified by compassion,
and it expands in power and beauty
as we give it away to all who come into our lives.

Hawaiian saying

The wind blows, the scent is lost:
the perfume falls and stays close to the grass.

Above, above
All birds in air

Below, below
All earth's flowers

Inland, inland
All forest trees

Seaward, seaward
All ocean fish

Sing out and say
Again the refrain

Behold this lovely world.

Goddess Laka!
O wildwood bouquet, O laka!
O Laka, queen of the voice!
O laka, giver of gifts!
O Laka, giver of bounty!
O Laka, giver of all things!

Hawaiian,
prayer to the Goddess Laka

To me the concept of the "Beloved" conveys
not just a , nice, cozy, warm relationship with God, but one that is joyous, uplifting and exhilirating, because it is a recognition of who I am.

Unconditional love radiating as pure joy. A person is so filled with love and the joy of living that he or she naturally repels anything negative.

`A`ohe lokomaika`i i nele i ke pâna`i.

No kind deed has ever lacked its reward.

Hawaiians are known
for their generosity, hospitality
and warm sharing.
This giving nature is grounded in the
principle of reciprocity.
When given, the Hawaiian will give back
in equal measure or more,
be it a gift or a smile.

Mohala i ka wai ka maka o ka pua.

Unfolded by the water are the faces of the flowers.

Flowers thrive
where there is water,
as thriving people are found
where living conditions are good.

Aloha mai no, aloha aku;
o ka huhu ka mea e ola `ole ai.

When love is given, love should be returned;
anger is the thing that gives no life.

Hawaiians understood
the transforming power of aloha.
Love begets love,
and enmity produces enmity.
Anger only serves to hurt the angry,
causing emotional upset,
which impairs mental,
physical, and spiritual well-being.
