I am a retired chef and restaurateur. I would like to contribute a recepy for the family Sunday dessert. Very easy.

MIXED FRUIT STEWED IN WINE

Preparation 20 minutes
Cooking toime 20 minutes
Resting time 24 hours

Ingredients Red winr to cover fruit
2 3/4 cups (600g) sugar
per bottle of wine.
4 bay leaves (whole)
1 cinnamon stick
3 1/4 lbs (1.5kg) pears(small)
1lb 1 1/2 oz (500 gm) prunes
1 1/2 cups (150 gm) shelled
walnuts

Utensils Large pot
Serving bowl with cover

Preparing the fruit: Place fruit and walnuts in a large pot with the wine. Add sugar, cinnamon and bay leaves. Simmer slowly over low heat until cooked. The fruit is cooked when the knife enters it with no resistance. Remove from heat, place in covered bowl and leave 24 hrs before serving. Serve cold.

The stewed fruit will keep 4 - 5 days refrigerated.

Pears can be replaced with any other fruit.

Enjoy, Pierre

Oh, Pierre! This sounds wonderful...and easy! Unfortunately i will have to wait to try it until I am cooking for others, as I am the only one in my house who would eat it! Can't wait for a reason to try it! Thanks!
