HAPPY THANKSGIVING

Thanksgiving in Canada is on Monday October 13, 2008.

Let us be grateful for what we still have.

Love,
Vicky 2Hearts

A Thanksgiving Prayer
Samuel F. Pugh

"O God, when I have food,
help me to remember the hungry;
When I have work,
help me to remember the jobless;
When I have a home,
help me to remember those who have no home at all;
When I am without pain,
help me to remember those who suffer,
And remembering,
help me to destroy my complacency;
bestir my compassion,
and be concerned enough to help;
By word and deed,
those who cry out for what we take for granted.
Amen."

Here in the DSA (the destitute states of america), Monday will be Columbus Day. I will navigate the San Francisco Bay by ferry from Marin to the city of SF and back. Someone else will be driving. I don't expect to discover anything undiscovered except San Francisco which is never the same city on two days. Funny that Sir Francis Drake parked off the Pacific Coast without ever having seen the entrance to the bay through the fog some years back before the Armada, and well after Columbus and Da Vinci had started building a european style city on Hispañola.

That was Santo Domingo where the oldest cathedral in the western hemisphere is located and some claim C. Columbus's remains reside there inside that monument, and not in Spain. He and Gandhi are the only two National Heroes of their respective lands who are buried in more than one place, the latter being scattered partially into the Ganges and partially stored in an urn in Los Angeles in the Self Realization Fellowship Temple that's near the intersection (or on it) of Sunset Boulevard and the Pacific Coast Highway. That is a very wonderful spot and a lovely temple too.

Columbus actually has a pair sarcophagi, one in Spain and one in Santo Domingo in what is now the Dominican Republic. For a time Sir Francis Drake was held prisoner in one of the chapels in that same renaissance style cathedral in the New World. His men came into the harbor on the Golden Hind cannons blasting and caused a disruption and a siege that freed him. The Twelfth was once Columbus day before we had the Monday thing. In Canada you get to celebrate Thanksgiving while we have a confusion about if this is Ethnic Diversity day or a day when the continent celebrates the discovery of the West Indies. How lovely for you, and thank you for being who you are my Canadian friends. You're welcome I'm sure. God smiles on our sister state. You have the Cirque de Soleil and the Rhythm Group Nexus not to mention Celine Dion and Teo Vincent. My favorite Ballet partner Aimée Fox who I started working with when she was a nine year old and with whom I performed when she was fourteen will turn thirty six on the Twelfth of October. How time flies. Aimée could fly too.

She lives in the States too as far as I know. We're all Americans and thankful for that God save the Queen (and Alan Greenspan).

Happy Holiday. Here comes Halloween and then All Saints.

Oh when the saints go marchin in. . .

Here's C.Columbus' backyard as I found it in 1988. The photo is mine. It's low res for compactness. You may share it as you like of course. It was a very interesting tour. When they have had wars on Hispañola they always stopped shooting at each other for the mid day siesta. There's something to be thankful for. Peace.

Happy Thanksgiving.
