GINGER

Ginger has been cultivated for thousands of years in India and China.
It is a perennial herb which now grows in Asia, Jamaica, Nigeria,The West Indies, Florida, California and Hawaii.

The name "Ginger" originates from a Sanskrit word meaning "horn shaped", referring to the rhizome bulges.

In China today half of all herbal preparations contain some form of Ginger.

Ginger is known to have many healing properties, relieving influenza, coughs and bronchitis. It is recommended as a remedy to ease the inflammation in arthritis, rheumatism and tendonitis. Studies have shown that ginger helps to lower unhealthy cholesterol levels, as well as bringing relief to morning and motion sickness.

Ginger is widely used in cooking, adding a distinct flavor to savory dishes as well as to baking. It is popular in Chinese, Caribbean, Thai, Indian, Japanese and North American cooking.

In addition, Ginger yields an essential oil which is used in aromatherapy, mixing the oil with sandalwood, cedar wood and patchouli giving it a woody-spicy scent

Enjoy the many uses of Ginger.

Thank you dear Inda for this information on Ginger. In tha Italian dishes it is not used much, but I find it sometimes in receipts for cakes.
I don't use it much, I will now find other receipts to use it more, as it has so many interesting properties!

I know it is one of my shower gels and I love it.

Love to all.

Thank you for this post.
When I don't drink coffee, I often have ginger tea, and enjoy it. It helps me when I have a sore throat and a cold, and it does wonders for an upset stomach.

The root or rhizome of Zingiber officinale, a plant commonly known as ginger, has been acclaimed for its medicinal benefits since ancient times. Native to southern China, ginger was imported early on to India, Southeast Asia, West Africa, and the Caribbean. Consequently, ginger root is used worldwide in various herbal traditions. It's primarily used to prevent and relieve nausea, indigestion, heart rhythm irregularities, inflammation and pain. In patients with autoimmune disease, ginger is widely used to reduce arthritic symptoms, inflammation related to ulcerative colitis, and digestive disturbances. Ginger is also reported to lower cholesterol levels, inhibit replication of herpes simplex virus, and help prevent the formation of blood clots.

Recent studies show that ginger has strong antioxidant properties. In addition, ginger reduces inflammation by inhibiting prostaglandin biosynthesis, specifically cyclooxygenase-1 and cyclooxygenase-2. These effects make ginger comparable to those of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medications although ginger does not cause the side effects characteristic of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medications. Ginger also suppresses the immune system's production of proinflammatory cytokines and chemokines, reducing disease severity in patients with rheumatoid arthritis.

There are a great deal of ginger benefits that can improve the health and comfort of an individual. Ginger benefits tend to outweigh the risks considering that the risks involved with ginger are typically controllable through proper intake and monitoring thanks to your doctor. If you suffer from menstrual cramps, ginger can effectively relieve this symptom.

Use the Best herbal incense.
