Alex was born in Holland in 2005, the son of two pure-bred Belgian Malinois. When he was about 2 1/2 years old, American K9 sent Alex to Kandahar, where he was assigned to a Canadian engineering unit. Shaun parker became Alex's trainer. Shaun and the dog had a very close relationship, working side by side under very dangerous conditions every day. Shaun planned to take Alex home when he was retired at age 5.

On March 20, 2007 Alex and Shaun were out in front of the Canadian unit, clearing a roadway for improvised explosive devices planted by the Taliban. They moved to another location. Alex was smelling an IED, he stepped on the trigger, the bomb went off and Alex was killed immediately. Shaun was very badly injured, and he cannot speak about the incidence.

May all wars come to an end
*****************************

Alex had a purpose on the earth, and when humans have evolved to a higher level and begin to share the love, Alex will come back and touch every explosive saying:

“I am the immeasurable potential of all that was, is, and will be, and my desires are like seeds left in the ground: they wait for the right season and then spontaneously manifest into beautiful flowers and might trees, into enchanted gardens and majestic forests.” "

Khalil Gibran

I remember this story and the picture. We get Maclean's magazine at work. I felt very sad for the young dog. Alex was bred to save soldiers' lives in dangerous places. Without humans there would not be so many dangerous places on earth.
As you said: "May all wars come to an end."

May Alex find joy in Doggie Heaven.

Love,
yoko

I feel sad for the puppy Alex, especially since he was going to go home with his trainer.
I wish humans would stop involving innocent animals in their evil doings.

I know that you are having a good time in heaven Alex.

Love,
Vicky 2Hearts

There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable. All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigour; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by...

Beyond Forget

I would like to go
To a place that's never been.
Where pain is gone
And memories are left behind.
A place beyond forget.

Humans are causing the death of so many innocent animals all over the world. I wonder if we will ever stop the wars and the killings. I pray that we do.

Sending prayers to Alex. May he rest in peace.

Love,
Gisele
