Tara, Toronto zoo's oldest elephant died yesterday at age 41.
The cause is unknown. It is suspected that Canada's cold winter weather shortens the elephants' life, which is usually 75 years.
The remaining three elephants were mourning Tara.

May Tara enjoy herself in animal heaven, and have a good time with the other three elephants that have recently passed away.

Love, Inda

Praying for Tara.

May she be at peace, and enjoy herself on the great grasslands of the sky.

Love,
Sue

Elephant 'boss' Tara dies at Toronto Zoo

"Boss" elephant Tara dies at Toronto Zoo. Tara, a 41-year-old elephant at the Toronto Zoo, died Monday, Nov. 30. Photo/TORONTO ZOO Once, she tipped the scale at 10,000 pounds.
She was "boss" of her all-female herd at Toronto Zoo, arrived in Canada on a Polish ocean liner, and loved having her keepers rub her face.

Now Tara the elephant is dead, and a team of veterinarians was trying Tuesday to find out why.

The autopsy, however, might not show what caused Tara - who was 41 and appeared healthy, active and interested in food - to collapse on the floor of her pen, where keepers found her early Monday morning.

There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable. All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigour; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by...

Unknown

May Tara enjoy the meadows and hills of heaven,
and the company of the other departed elephants.

Love,
Vicky 2Hearts

How said, as Tara was still in the blooming time of her life. But she will be remembered by those who loved her and she will indeed find the sky meadows full of old friends who will receive her and make her "feel at home".

Moving story!

Love,
Margherita
