The well lknown naturalist Steve Irwin died on September 4, 2006 when a stingray barb pierced his heart as he was filming an underwater documentary.

Steve Irwin Day will be held on November 15.

Steve Irwin was famous for his work with native Australian wildlife.

In Queensland's parliament, State Premier Peter Beattie paid tribute to Irwin, describing him as one of the state's greatest cultural ambassadors, the Australian newspaper reported.

He graduated from Caloundra State High School in 1979. He soon moved to Northern Queensland, where he became a crocodile trapper, removing crocodiles from populated areas where they were considered a danger. He performed the service for free with the quid pro quo that he be allowed to keep them for the park. Irwin followed in his father's footsteps, becoming a volunteer for the Queensland Government's East Coast Crocodile Management program.

I did not know that they designated a Steve Irwin Day in Australia.

I enjoyed watching him on National Geographic and the Animal Planet show. He was always very funny and entertaining, and he really loved all the animals; he even called the most unaesthetic animals "BEAUTIFUL."

May Steve have fun wrestling all his beloved animals through the gates that lead to Heaven.
