Shiva personifies pure consciousness. He manifests the universe and exists in it like a net into which every particle and being is woven. Yet he remains unaffected by the world's charms and temptations as he silently holds all that moves in an unmoving presence. He is the Lord of Yogis, established in meditation.
He has many names. To Markandeya he is Mrityunjaya, the Death Conqueror.

~Excerpted from the Netra Tantra, translated by Pandit Rajmani Tigunait, Ph.D.

To overcome the fear of death, Lord Shiva gave humanity the Mrityunjaya mantra:

OM. We worship and adore you. O three-eyed one,
O Shiva. You are sweet gladness, the fragrance of life, who nourishes us, restores our health, and causes us to thrive. As, in due time, the stem of the cucumber weakens, and the gourd is freed from the vine, so free us from attachment and death, and do not withhold immortality.

Thank you dear Inda for sharing. I am not very much acquainted with Indian divinities and I am glad to learn something more.
I remember Eric's poem "Ode to Shiva".

My world is shattered by
your touch -

I am a thousand broken pieces
flying in your wind.

You carry me to places unknown...yet
haunt familiar to my soul.

We have flown this way before.

The touch that destroys is
my salvation.

The wind that carries...is your love.

I fall to your touch.

And rise...reborn to your wind.

Impressive, isn't it?

Love, Margherita Smile

Thank you Inda.
I am also not aquainted with Indian divinities,
but this is comforting.

Special thanks to Margherita for posting Eric's beautiful poem.
