This Bread

In tasting this bread may we give grace.

Every single grain spike
exhales its consciousness
over the whole grain field,
where it lingers to be read
by the swift touch of the wind
and by attentive eyes.

If we halt for just a moment
at the edge of this golden glory
we will be able to inhale the essence
of a millennia-long story.
This soil is drenched in whispers
gathered upon the rivers of time.

This site has known the sighs
of soldiers, peasants and lovers,
it has heard children’s laughter,
it has been soaked with tears,
it has known all of life’s seasons
its sacred songs and deep sorrows.

Now the field has found its apotheosis,
in this blessed abundance of harvest.
Displayed in beauty it greets the sun,
it waves in grace to the stars above.
Soon it will know transformation
and delight us with its unique fragrance.

Let us remember then that love,
forgiveness and new awareness
can purify the battlefields of the world,
consecrating them as tools of peace,
assuring nourishment to the hungry multitudes
who still lack their share of Nature’s gifts.

In tasting this bread may we give grace.

And here I share a picture I made of my own homemade bread ... as the end product.

Nothing like baking the own bread. It is gratifying. I don't do it enough often, I find.

Love,

Dear Margherita,

Thank you for sharing your very touching and deeply sensitive words.

We are truly blessed with all the gifts that the Earth has to offer; let us hope that everyone can enjoy them withn us.

Let us be grateful and say thank you.

Your loaf of bread looks wonderful. I am hungry right now.
I have learned to love bread since coming to this part of the world, even with butter on it.

Love,
yoko

Thank you, dear Yoko, for your beautiful reply. I love your picture too. Yes giving grace for our gifts is so important.
Me too I love bread and butter, especially for breakfast. Bread is the one food that we are never bored with, indeed.
Enjoy your Sunday!
Love and hugs.

Thank you Margherita.

As always, your words touch me deeply.

It is amazing what we take for granted. We are fortunate to enjoy so many luxuries, and most of the time we forget how lucky we are.
All this reminds me of a not so nice distant past, and how good it is to be alive.

Love,
Gisele

Thank you from my heart, dear friends, for your most loving replies!

Time is running. My daughter has given birth to her third sweet son on Sept. 30th. His name is Enea and he very much looks like Simon and Milo when they arrived. He is a healthy baby and we are all very happy. My husband and me we are getting ready to visit.

I will be back the last week of October.

May you all enjoy a wonderful Autumn.

Love and hugs.

Thank you all my dear dear friends once again for your kind comments and for your wishes for little Enea. He is doing well and all three of my grandsons are a joy and such a blessing.

For other aspects the past months has been a difficult time, health issues, not yet resolved, but we do hope that with God's grace happiness and wellbeing will be restored.

We also had the flu and are not totally well yet. Still coughing ...

Sorry for not being around for so long.

Hope you are all fine and enjoy Autumn.

Love and hugs.
