What if... Miles lessen Our heartbeats being fingers away... Could we? Would we? What if... Distance faded Our voices being a breath away... Could we? Would we? What if... Time stopped Our bodies being so close by Tell me... Would we burn more, closer to the flame? Or... Is our longing greater than any fire? Tell me... Good thread. I'm in Fairfax now. I may change my profile, though my heart remains in Berkeley (technically Oakland). What if the miles got greater but the feeling of proximity became more intense? I like hypotheticals and syllogisms, not that I'm a silly guy. Poetry should make us think and it does. Somehow the east bay seems more significant with a few miles of distance. Love that walking code person above, I remember a Steinbeck character speaking of proceeding in life as one foot stepping after the other. In the words of LBJ: "Let us continya." | |||
