Native American Prayer for Peace

Oh Great Spirit of our
Ancestors, I raise
my pipe to you.
To your messengers the four winds, and
to Mother Earth who provides
for your children.
Give us the wisdom to teach our children
to love, to respect, and to be kind
to each other so that they may grow
with peace of mind
Let us learn to share all good things that
you provide for us on this Earth.

Another Native American Prayer for Peace

Almighty God, the Great
Thumb we cannot evade to
tie any knot;
the Roaring Thunder that splits mighty trees:
the all-seeing Lord up on high who sees
even the footprints of an antelope on
a rock mass here on Earth.
You are the one who does
not hesitate to respond to our call.
You are the cornerstone of peace.

Thank you.
These prayers are really beautiful.
I have never seen them before.
They contain so much wisdom.

Adding prayers for peace.

Thank you Everyone.

In Deepak Chopra's new book,
"The Spontaneous Fulfillment of Desire"
I found this beautiful prayer by an unknown
Native American Author:

Don't stand by my grave and weep,
For I am not there.
I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow,
I am the diamond's glint on snow,
I am the sunlight on ripened grain,
I am the gentle autumn's rain.
In the soft brush of the morning's light
I am the swift bird in flight.
Don't stand by my grave and cry,
I am not there,
I did not die.

Thank you.

I myself am deeply inspired by Native American
wisdom. If we would follow their ways, there would be much more peace on earth.

Honor the sacred. Honbor the Earth-
our Mother. Honor the Elders. Honor
all with whom we share the Earth.
For-legged, two-legged, winged ones,
swimmers, crawlewrs, plant and rock
people. Walk in balance and beauty.

I reread some of my books on the history of the native americans and their wisdom and beliefs and came across an interesting fact. They believed that most of our illnesses are caused by bad feelings, guilt and negative energy.

This is interesting. We think much the same today.

May the warm winds of heaven
blow softly upon your house.
May the Great Spirit bless all
who enter there.
May your moccasins make
happy tracks in many snows,
and may the rainbow always
touch your shoulder.

I have had a chance to be in close contact with many native Americans and so have become interested in their history and customs.

Did you know before the white men from Europe arrived in America, more than 500 tribes, about 22 million people inhabited what is the United States, not to mentiuon the rest of America.

Dear Vicky and Gisele,
Thank you for your interest.

Here is a message from Chief Seattle:

We love this earth as a newborn loves its mother's heartbeat.
If we sell our land, care for it as we cared for it.

Hold in your mind the memory of the land as it is when you receive it.
Preserve the land and the air and the rivers for your children's children and love it as we have loved it.

Thank you Lilie.
I also enjoy Susan Jeffers' native artwork.
Here is another of her drawings
*********************************

My mother told me,
Every part of this earth is sacred to our people.
Every pine needle. Every sandy shore.
Every mist in the dark woods.
Every meadow and humming insect.
All are holy in the memory of our people.
~Chief Seattle

Did you know that many scholars and anthropologists believe that Native Americans inhabited the American continent about 70,000 years before the Europeans arrived.

When the last Red Man and Woman have vanished with their wilderness, and their memory is only the shadow of a cloud moving across the prairie, will the shores and the forests still be here? Will there be any of the spirit of my people left?

The earth does not belong to us. We belong to the earth.

I wanted to add something else to this thread:

Did you know that the Native Americans were the first to make cotton into cloth, and they also knew how to make delicious hot chocolate; I believe that the Native Americans were the first to actually make hot chocolate as a beverage.
