The Sacred Instructions given by the Creator to Native people at the time of Creation were as follows:
A. To Take Care of Mother Earth and the other 3 colors of Man. B. To Respect this Mother Earth and Creation. C. To Honour All life, and to support that Honour. D. To be Grate-ful from the heart for All life. It is through life that there is Survival. Thank the Creator at All times for All life. E. To Love and express that love. F. To be Humble. Humility is the gift of wisdom and understanding. G. Kindness. To be Kind with one-self and with others. H. Sharing. The Sharing of feelings and personal concerns and commitments. I. Honesty. To be Honest with one-self and with others. To be Responsible for those Sacred Instructions and to administrate those Instructions to other Nations. Sandy |

Thank you Sandy,for your prayers.
The image is absolutely beautiful. I am happy to see you here Margherita, sharing your beautiful words with us. ***************************** ...The water's murmur is the voice of your great-great- grandmother. The rivers are our brothers. They quench our thirst. They carry our canoes and feed our children. You must give to the rivers the kindness you would give to any brother. ~Native American [This message was edited by Inda on Friday March 12th, 2004 at 12:19 PM.] ![]() |

Great Spirit, God, Creator of All
Great Spirit, God, Creator of All I welcome You into my heart, mind, body and soul There is always room for You here. Grant me the wisdom to heed my inner voice And the strength to stay grounded while I sing my sacred song. Guide me down my chosen path and give me the courage to pursue what is available to me. I am thankful for the lessons and grateful for my struggles; I have not forgotten what has brought me to where I am today. Open my heart to the healing wholeness of nature; We are all related, and through this I will find serenity. Great Spirit, God, Creator of All Cleanse my spirit and wash my soul. There is always room for You here. -Laurel Singing Water Cat Sending love to all Sandy |

Thank you Sandy.
The images are beautiful. ******************************** What is life? It is a flash of a firefly in the night. It is the breath of a buffalo in the wintertime. It is the little shadow which runs across the grass and loses itself in the sunset. ~Native American ![]() |

Woman's Prayer
Great Spirit, I am Mother. I was made by You so that the image of Your love Could be brought into existence. May I always carry with me The sacredness of this honour. Creator, I am Daughter. I am the learner of the Traditions. May I carry them forward So that the Elders and Ancestors Will be remembered for all time. Maker-Of-All-Things, I am Sister. Through me, may my brothers be shown The manner in which I am to be respected. May I join with my sisters in strength and power as a Healing Sheild So that they will no longer bear the stain of abuse. Niskam, I am Committed Partner: One who shares her spirit, But is wise to remember never to give it away, Lest it become lost, And the two become less than one. I am Woman. Hear me. Welal'in. Ta'ho! Dear Sandy,
I am very happy that you brought back this post. ---------------------------- Earth Teach Me to Remember by John Yellow Lark Earth teach me stillness as the grasses are stilled with light. Earth teach me suffering as old stones suffer with memory. Earth teach me humility as blossoms are humble with beginning. Earth Teach me caring as the mother who secures her young. Earth teach me courage as the tree which stands alone. Earth teach me limitation as the ant which crawls on the ground. Earth teach me freedom as the eagle which soars in the sky. Earth teach me resignation as the leaves which die in the fall. Earth teach me regeneration as the seed which rises in the spring. Earth teach me to forget myself as melted snow forgets its life. Earth teach me to remember kindness as dry fields weep in the rain. Ute, North American |

I love this thread as well.
Thank you dear Sandy for starting it. ************************************** Ojibwa Prayer Oh Great Spirit, whose voice I hear in the winds And whose breath gives life to everyone, Hear me. I come to you as one of your many children; I am weakÖI am smallÖI need your wisdom and your strength. Let me walk in beauty, and make my eyes ever behold the red and purple sunsets. Make my hands respect the things you have made, and make my ears sharp so I may hear your voice. Make me wise, so that I may understand what you have taught my people and The lessons you have hidden in each leaf and each rock. I ask for wisdom and strength, Not to be superior to my brothers, but to be able to fight my greatest enemy, myself. Make me ever ready to come before you with clean hands and a straight eye, So as life fades away as a fading sunset, My spirit may come to you without shame. -Author Unknown ![]() |

Dear Sandy,
I love Native American prayers and wisdom as well. ************ Hear Me Hear me, four quarters of the world-- a relative I am! Give me the strength to walk the soft earth. Give me the eyes to see and the strength to understand, that I may be like you. With your power only can I face the winds. Great Spirit...all over the earth the faces of living things are all alike. With tenderness have these come up out of the ground. Look upon these faces of children without number and with children in their arms, that they may face the winds and walk the good road to the day of quiet. This is my prayer' hear me! Great Spirit Prayer
"Oh, Great Spirit, whose voice I hear in the wind, Whose breath gives life to all the world. Hear me; I need your strength and wisdom. Let me walk in beauty, and make my eyes ever behold the red and purple sunset. Make my hands respect the things you have made and my ears sharp to hear your voice Make me wise so that I may understand the things you have taught my people. Help me to remain calm and strong in the face of all that comes towards me. Let me learn the lessons you have hidden in every leaf and rock. Help me seek pure thoughts and act with the intention of helping others. Help me find compassion without empathy overwhelming me. I seek strength, not to be greater than my brother, but to fight my greatest enemy Myself. Make me always ready to come to you with clean hands and straight eyes. So when life fades, as the fading sunset, my spirit may come to you without shame. Native American ![]() |
