Attention all employers. Got a manager that has improved the business you put her over? One that sticks up for you to everyone? Want to see how far you can push her before she breaks? Try this easy method. Make her wait for 2 years before she gets a vacation by basing it on calendar years rather than hire dates. (This works best if you can hire someone in January or February.) Keep your pay scale below the area average so that it is more difficult to find and keep good emplyees. When she does get someone trained well, transfer them to another store so she has to start the process all over again. Do not allow her to schedule overtime for her clerks no matter how shorthanded the store is. After all, she became a manager because she would rather work 7 days a week than have a life of her own, didn't she? When her store is down to one clerk, come in every few days and read her the riot act because things aren't getting done on time. If you are lucky enough to have the current work stool break, put off replacing it as long as possible. If her back is in enough pain, you don't have to worry about her sleeping on the job. I could add a few other things, I'm sure. But these are the ones that are driving me the craziest right now. Along with a trainee that may not be able to cut it. I'm working almost 60 hours a week. No day off in sight. I hurt from head to toe. When I sleep, I dream about work. Billy is being an angel Susan

Dear Susan, I am sorry to hear that you have to work so many hours and that it is difficult for you. It is nice that you come to Givnology. Luckily I have a good boss and we all enjoy working together. I hope that things will work out for you. Maybe you should look for another job. Love, Sue

Hi Susan. Thank you for sharing your problems with us on Givnology. Maybe Sue is right and you should find another job. It is not good to be so stressed all the time, which may cause some illness eventually. Like Sue, I like my job because my boss and all of us are like friends. I hope that something better will manifest itself for you. Love Vicky

Thanks Vicky and Sue, I had already determined that I needed to find a different job. I really wanted to try to stay there through the summer so I could take my vacation and go to New Mexico to see my daughter and grandbabies. I may have to postpone that trip. One of my old customers from another store came through tonight. He called a friend of his and I am to put in my application tomorrow. It will mean a cut in pay and I will lose my vacation and bonus, but they aren't worth it if the job is making me so stressed that I wind up in the hospital. The clincher was getting to work today and losing my voice. Now, those of you who remember me from Chopra have probably figured out what a terrible thing that would be for me. Susan

Dear Susan, I just see that the problems obviously have not been solved yet! I am sorry to hear you are THAT stressed with this challenging job as a manager of a store. This is a tough job and I am sure and I pray that you are receiving divine guidance to take the right decisions. We should not exaggerate with our working hours, we must remember to BREATHE! Find your inner peace dear Susan and align to the Universal Power of Intention, which will create harmony in your job issues. Relax, breathe and TRUST. Love and light. Margherita

Thank you all. I am going out job hunting before I go to work today. I know of a couple places where I may be able to go back to being a clerk for a while. I would really like a break before I consider management again. Even though the stress level began dropping as soon as I decided to leave, I'm afraid that I would not be able to be a good manager for anyone right now. I need some time to get back in touch with ME! But I am feeling much better. Thanks for all the support. Susan

Dear Susan, I am very sorry to hear about your stressful job situation. Maybe You should look for a less challenging job for the time being. Praying for the right employment to find its way to you, so that you will find mental and physical enjoyment in your new workplace. Love, Inda

Hi everyone. I have a job interview this morning. My chances are pretty good. I have two recomendations already--one from a friend of the manager's and one from a former employee. I'm not going into work today. My voice is going again and my back is hurting again. I spent most of yesterday on the computer getting March closed out so I wouldn't leave it behind for whoever follows me. And that many hours at that stupid make-shift workstool got me. So they are just going to have to do without me today. Actually, these next few workdays are really more for my own pride anyway. There are things I just don't want to leave undone, no matter how upset I am at the company. Darn that work ethic, anyway! Anyway, wish me luck today. Maybe when I get home, I will have some more good news. Susan Susan

Thanks Teo! I got the job! And yes, being here the last few days has helped immensely. Well, I guess I don't get to stay on here right now. It seems the office is trying to call me. (The old office, not my new job.) Wanting me to work today, perhaps? Anyway, guess I ought to call her back. Susan Susan

YIPPEE!!!!! I start work at 5-Star on Monday. That call from the old office was to tell me that I could go ahead and bring my keys in. Apparently, now that I am not there they can find someone to cover the shift. So, I have four days to rest and recuperate. Originally I was simply looking at this job as a stopping off point. A less stressful place from which to look for something better. And that may still be what it is. But, as I learn more about the company and this particular store in particular, I'm finding out that it could be far more than I originally thought. They have a step program to management which allows you to take on the responsibilities gradually. At my last job I went from clerk to manager in two weeks. The only training I had was in the paperwork. I did pretty well, but it was tough to suddenly have to be telling people what to do. I was probably way too soft. If I do decide to go into management here, I will be better prepared. And my boss? The man has a fan club! But one of the most amazing things about this job is how it happened. I never had time to go job-humting. The very day I decided for sure that I was leaving J.R. came in to the store. He could tell I was upset and I told him about losing my voice earlier and that I would be leaving as soon as I had another job. He pulled out his cell phone and called 5-Star right then. The next day I filled out an application and talked to Wade for maybe two minutes. He told me to come in for an interview the next morning. But he never interviewed me! When I walked in the next morning, he started handing me papers to read and sign. The whole experience was amazing! As if Life had it ready for me when I decided it was time. Susan
